The goal of St. Augustine, from its founding by the Josephite order in 1951, was to provide each student with educational opportunities and experiences related to their African-American heritage.

In the heart of New Orleans’ historic Seventh Ward, our program challenges, supports, and inspires students in small class sizes to grow intellectually and spiritually through a tradition of excellence, innovation, and service.

Technology is seamlessly integrated into the curriculum to ensure that students acquire the necessary digital competencies and skills to succeed in college and the modern world.

The St. Augustine Marching 100 is well known in New Orleans and is consistently voted the best high school marching band during Mardi Gras.

Our Purple Knights athletic programs are some of the most competitive in the state and teach leadership, sportsmanship, and teamwork.

Students at St. Augustine are called to grow in faith and mind, and we are proud of all who have passed through our doors to become ambassadors of our culture and ideals.

We foster leadership through building academic excellence, instilling moral values, and developing Christian responsibility in an environment of brotherhood.
